What resources do you offer for those experiencing homelessness?

We offer a variety of resources for individuals experiencing homelessness, including information about the rights of people living outside and what the can do when their rights are violated. We also share details about how to access housing and other services they need to get and stay housed. This includes sheltering options, housing assistance programs, access to food and basic survival needs, plus more. Our team is committed to connecting those in need with the appropriate services and support to help them regain stability and improve their living condition by providing both individual and systemic advocacy to address barriers.

How does your organization influence public policy?

HFU does its research. Our organization actively participates in public policy discussions by advocating for evidence-based solutions to homelessness. We engage with policymakers, provide research and recommendations, and collaborate with other organizations to promote effective policies that address the root causes of housing instability in our communities.

What types of educational programs do you provide?

We provide educational programs focused on raising awareness about affordable housing issues, homelessness solutions, and community service opportunities. These programs are designed to inform the public, empower individuals, and foster a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by those experiencing housing instability in our region. They also serve to bring all members of the community together to humanely address the problems of homeless as we collectively work to solve it. These are held both online and in-person. HFU also has a growing social media project to provide people the information where they are and in the format most likely to make in impact.

Yes, donations are greatly appreciated and play a crucial role in supporting our initiatives. You can make a donation through our website, and every contribution helps us provide essential services and resources to those in need, and is tax deductible. Beside donations of money, from time to time we also ask for items and professional services. But one of the biggest helps is your time and energy to help do the work of Housing First Umpqua.
